My sixth Buzzards Bay Swim, June 30th, 2018
I believe that all organisms, humans included, deserve a reliable source of clean water. I also like to swim in it when I get the chance. Once a year I combine these two things to raise money in support of clean water in Buzzards Bay. Buzzards Bay is a gorgeous coastal waterway, but like virtually all water ecosystems, it's under constant threat from dangers like nitrogen pollution, oil spills, and disappearing forests, streams, and wetlands.
I’ll be returning to the primal ocean to do my part for Buzzards Bay by joining hundreds of others in swimming 1.2 miles across outer New Bedford Harbor to raise funds to restore and protect clean water in Buzzards Bay as part of the 25th annual (and my 6th annual) Buzzards Bay Swim. I am hoping to raise $1500 for the Buzzards Bay Coalition. Thanks to your support I have been a top 20 fundraiser in recent years. Please note that this is my only fundraising event of the year, so I won't be bothering you again until next June! Also note that the BBC is a well run charity: funds will go directly to the Buzzards Bay Coalition's conservation, research, advocacy, and education work.
BBC boilerplate (but good to know): One small donation at a time, over 25 years, swimmers like me have raised more than a million dollars to fight pollution, permanently protect natural areas, harness the power of science, and increase access to the outdoors for all people.
Thanks so much for your support!
If you prefer not to donate online, you can fill out this form and return it along with your payment to the Buzzards Bay Coalition, 114 Front Street, New Bedford, MA 02740. If you're sending a check, please make sure the swimmer's name is written on the check.
