Schedule and Directions
The 18th Annual Buzzards Bay Watershed Ride will take place on Sunday, October 6, 2024. There are three start lines, in Little Compton, Westport, and Rochester, all ending at the same finish line in Woods Hole.
The preliminary schedule and accompanying directions are provided below for your planning. Some details may change as the event draws closer. Use the links below to get maps and important schedule information for each location along the route.
- 100-Mile Route Start Line: Sakonnet Point (Little Compton, R.I.)
- 75-Mile Route Start Line: Horseneck Beach State Reservation (Westport, Mass.)
- 35-Mile Route Start Line/Lunch Stop: Eastover Farm (Rochester, Mass.)
- Finish Line: MBL Swope Center (Woods Hole, Mass.)
100-Mile Route Start Line: Sakonnet Point (Little Compton)
The Buzzards Bay Watershed Ride 100-mile route start line is located at Sakonnet Point (99 Bluff Head Ave., Little Compton, RI).
5:15am: Shuttle departs Woods Hole (Finish Line, Swope Center, 5 North Street, Woods Hole) for Sakonnet Point
There is limited parking available at Sakonnet Point. For riders who want to leave their car at the finish line, we offer shuttle transportation from the Woods Hole finish line to Sakonnet Point the morning of the Ride. You can sign up for the shuttle ($25) when you register for the Ride. (If you did not sign up for the shuttle when you registered and you need a seat, please email us.)
6:00-7:20am: Check-in at Sakonnet Point
All riders must check in on Ride day and before beginning the Watershed Ride. Riders are strongly encouraged to participate in our early rider packet pick-up program(Rider Precheck) to reduce waiting lines and crowds. Those who did not already receive their rider packet will get an official Watershed Ride bib number at check in. All riders must wear the bib to take advantage of services along the route and at the finish line.
7:20am: Safety Briefing for 100-Mile Route
During the safety briefing, we will share important information that all riders need to know, including route updates and safe cycling techniques. All riders who are beginning the Watershed Ride at Sakonnet Point must be present during this safety briefing.
7:30am: Start of 100-Mile Route
Once the 100-mile route opens, riders are welcome to begin the Watershed Ride from Sakonnet Point at their own pace.
75-Mile Route Start Line: Horseneck Beach State Reservation (Westport)
The Buzzards Bay Watershed Ride 75-mile route start line is located at DCR's Horseneck Beach State Reservation (163 John Reed Rd., Westport, MA). This is also the location of the first rest stop on the 100-mile route.
7:00am: Shuttle departs Woods Hole (Finish Line, Swope Center, 5 North Street, Woods Hole) for Horseneck Beach
Plentiful free parking is available all day at Horseneck Beach until 8:00pm. For riders who want to leave their car at the finish line instead of driving to Horseneck Beach, we offer shuttle transportation from the Woods Hole finish line. You can sign up for the shuttle ($25) when you register for the Ride. (If you did not sign up for the shuttle when you registered and you need a seat, email us.)
7:30-8:50am: Check-in at Horseneck Beach

9:00am: Start of 75-mile Route
Once the 75-mile route opens, riders are welcome to begin the Watershed Ride from Horseneck Beach at their own pace.
35-Mile Start Line/Lunch Stop: East Over Farm (Rochester)
The Buzzards Bay Watershed Ride 35-mile route start line is located at Eastover Farm (131 Hiller Rd., Rochester, MA). This is also the location of the lunch stop.
11:00-2:30pm: Lunch
All riders are welcome to enjoy a hearty lunch at the lunch stop. Lunch is free for registered riders.
10:30am-11:50am: Check-in at Eastover Farm
Free parking is available all day at Eastover Farm.

12:00pm: Start of 35-mile Route
Once the 35-mile route opens, riders are welcome to begin the Watershed Ride from Eastover Farm at their own pace.
Finish Line: MBL Swope Center (Woods Hole)
The Buzzards Bay Watershed Ride finish line is located at the Marine Biological Laboratory Swope Center (5 North St., Falmouth, MA).
2:00-5:00pm: Finish Line Celebration
Limited free parking is available all day in MBL parking lots and in the WHOI School Street parking lot. (See attendant upon arrival.)
The finish line party includes a food truck, beer from Buzzards Bay Brewing, live music, awards, merchandise, and more!
5:00pm: Watershed Ride Route Closes
If you’re still on the road at this time, a SAG wagon will pick you up and bring you to the finish line.
5:00pm: Shuttles Depart from Woods Hole
We will offer shuttle transportation for riders who need to return to their cars at the Little Compton, Westport, and Rochester start lines. You can sign up for a shuttle ($25) when you register for the Ride. (If you did not sign up for the shuttle when you registered and you need a seat, email us.)
